Who am I?!
My name is Gaby, I’m an American/ Colombian young soul constantly bouncing around the world waiting for my next adventure. I love to spend time with my family & friends, dance, sing to all genres of music, rap to my own lyrics, rock climb, and sail! I’m known to be spontaneous and have random thoughts in my head. I have a younger sister who does Improv in Chicago & Los Angeles, and loving supportive Colombian parents.
I’m currently a practicing Speech Therapist & an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist (ITDS) since 2013. I obtain two degrees, one in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the second in Psychology. I’m excited to announce mid year 2020 I was able to publish my first children’s book available on Amazon. I’m currently working on my second book which would be for young adults. Feel free to take a look at them if interested!
What’s my story?
As cliche as it sounds, I do believe that life is way too short to not live it the way I want to! The question for me was always, “This can’t be it… what’s next!?”. I can’t tell you exactly when I had my “Aha!” moment, but at some point I found myself looking for another thing to be passionate about. I’ll admit it took me sometime to realize that it was completely OKAY to have a different mindset and find ambition for other things as well. That’s when this blog came into play, it was inspired and created while working as a stewardess on a motor yacht. Total different lifestyle than an SLPA and ITDS… I know!
During my journey working and living on a boat, it gave me time to reflect on what I really wanted until I found a new passion in life. My current passion is to live life the way I want to, which is to work remotely and travel as much as I could. Fast forward, I’m now able to work part time, and travel as it best fits me.
Trust me, leaving a career temporarily so drastically was very scary for me, but I knew that If I didn’t try, then I would always wonder “What if?”. I felt like I had to take the risk and do something I had never done before. My family and friends consistently comment or ask how I can be so bold to take the measures I’ve taken… my answer is this,
IF you feel like you are settling in your career, relationships, current state of living situation– whatever it is, try to get out of your comfort zone and make a change. IF you feel scared when making a change in your life, then you’re doing something right!
I emphasize the word ‘IF’ because some people are currently happy and content where he/she is in their life, and that’s great too! Everyone is different. Everyone has his/her own path to take at their own speed.
With that said, welcome to my lifestyle blog called Knot Settling, where I share my tips and tricks on making healthy living lifestyle choices, and travel excursions! I strive to be as authentic as I can be & hopefully you’ll be able to see that through. I encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and make the most of your life, no matter what it is.
I wouldn’t be where I am now if it weren’t for my experiences and people I’ve met along the way. That said, I’d love to get to know you too! Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and introduce yourself… don’t be scared! I truly appreciate you taking a look at my blog. Welcome to Knot Settling.
