There are many free things to do in South Florida, but I only felt it was right to only write down the events I’ve personally experienced. With that said, you’ve come to the right place. Floridan here & I’m happy to help!
Palm Beach County
Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is a wild life is a refuge and nature center. This sanctuary offers showtimes with amazing shows, trails for children, and many different kind of animals. Admission is free, and donations are greatly appreciated since it is a non-profit organization.
Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park provides many many amenities from camping, beaches, playground, etc. It’s open everyday from 7am- 6pm. Admission is free except for certain activities. See website for more detail.
Harbourside Place entertains you with live music on Saturday nights. This riverwalk has become very popular these days with many restaurants, salons, shops, entertainment, and more.
West Palm, Florida
Downtown West Palm Beach Trolley. Take the yellow line to City Place (where they also offer free outdoor performances on Fridays and Saturdays) and you’ll be at the heart of downtown where there is an area with restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, and more.
Phil Foster Park is free admission for underwater snorkeling if you already have the equipment. It’s an 800 artificial reef with wonders of marine life and few feet from the shore.
Manatee Lagoon in West Palm, South Florida is a center where you can learn and watch manatee’s. Great place for kids with many fun activities, and other amenities. It’s open from Tuesday- Sunday from 9am- 4pm; admission is free.
Delray , Florida
Wakodahatchee Wetlands is great for bird watching! There are also easy hikes for stroll alongs.
Deerfield Beach, FL
Island Water Sports at Deerfield Beach offers free surfing lessons Saturday mornings. I cannot express how much fun this experience was. Great community to learn from. Such great friendly people.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Buehler Planetarium & Observatory enables visitors to gain knowledge on astronomy, and gaze at the sky using high-tech telescopes.
Secret Woods Nature Center is 56.95 acres big of amphitheater, butterfly garden, classroom exhibit hall, nature trail, public art & design and more. This location is a great place to bring your family and take pictures, though there are no pets allowed. And admission is free.
Sunday Jazz Brunch has free live outdoor concerts of the best jazz bands sponsored by Revolution Live. These free events are held the first Sunday of every month from 11am- 2pm. Vendors are available with yummy food. Bring along your family, friends, and four- legged furry pals!
Miami- Dade County
BYOBIKE will work your butt off! This is an event that is hosted every Sunday at 11am. All you have to do is bring your own bike (my personal favorite that I’ve used for the past year now + very affordable!) and ride around Wynwood with a great community of people.
Yoga at Bayfront Park and Maurice A. Ferré Park. The link I provided you with lists free classes, they fill up very fast so make sure to visit the website and register. Bring your own yoga mat, towel and water bottle. All skill levels are welcome.
Bayside Marketplace is fun and filled with such colors and vibrant energy. You can shop here and eat delicious food while listening or dancing to live musical performances at the outside stage.
Wynwood Art Walk is Miami biggest block party where you can enjoy delicious dishes at restaurants and food trucks while exploring the art-covered streets. You can also enjoy craft brews and beers on tap at the local Wynwood breweries during the walk. The Art Walk is free every second Saturday of the month.
Ball & Chain located in Little Havana, marked its 80-year anniversary by hosting Pineapple Saturdays. Enjoy drink specials, and bbq with live performances from well-known musicians who have previously presented on that stage. No cover from 2-10 p.m.
Don’t forget all the beaches in South Florida are a free great way to enjoy as well, and some are dog friendly or have boardwalks to walk around, enjoy shops, restaurants, or live performances! The following beaches are: Juno Beach in Jupiter, Delray Beach at Atlantic Avenue, Fort Lauderdale Beach, Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, Miami South Beach at Ocean Drive. Grab your sunscreen, towel, speakers & enjoy a day in the sun!
